" For the Damaged Coda" is a song by Blonde Redhead, used as the unofficial theme song for Evil Morty. Anyway, another (slightly intoxicated non-scientific) data point." Fathers and Daughters (Doo-Doo in My Butt)" Sandoval's Deluxes for the pre-Face To Face material so I can pass on that. At this point in my life I'm happy with Mr.

I passed on Arthur as I have my parent's vinyl, Castle & Deluxe and it was reported on song was missing a few notes, so that there was enough. Face To Face which I played first was harder to judge simply because I tend to play the stereo more often, but I don't regret the purchase. Both the music and the mezcal had a certain clarity going for them. The harpsichord and acoustic guitars sound nicer for instance, and other details, or maybe it was just the mezcal effecting my ears. If you won't miss $11 whatever definitely buy Something Else. I'm not a hater of the Deluxe sets, though I understand some of the criticism (within limits). My basic attitude towards all British music of this era is it's not going to be perfect so just try to enjoy it, despite what certain masterings end up doing to it. I have old (mostly worn) vinyl, some PRTs & Castles (some were given away) & the deluxes. I was going to pass but after Laservampire's detailed post and other helpful feedback I bought Face To Face and Something Else as these 2 are favorites (esp. Japan K2 - a little brighter than the 1998, but faded between songs.Ģ011 Deluxe - Not as bad as other deluxes but still fatiguingĢ018 HDtracks - Pretty much identical sounding to 1998 remaster (with fades in between songs) Only uncompressed version on CD.ġ998 Castle - tape hiss not faded in between songs. Missing drum roll intro to Top of the Pops and count-in on The Contenders.

Missing the first two notes on She's Bought A Hat for some reason. Japan K2 - a bit of compression but no NR, bass boosted a littleĢ018 HDtracks - almost identical to the Japan K2. (runs a tiny amount slower than other versions)ġ998 Castle - Not bad EQ but a little compressed and very NR'd in places Original mixes.Ģ018 HDtracks - As WonkyWilly said, a louder version of the PRT but with the original mixes. Japan K2 - slightly folded in, has complete versions of "Situation Vacant" and "Tin Soldier Man" (alternate mixes)Ģ011 Deluxe - Loud and bright as expected. PRT/Castle CLACD - Flat transfer, missing end of "Situation Vacant" and intro of "Tin Soldier Man" (alternate mixes) Reprise - US copy tape, a bit dull and damaged but has original mixes of "Tin Soldier Man" and "Situation Vacant" Japan K2 - probably the flat source of the 1998 Castle, no NR on fades/intros but otherwise quite similarĢ018 HDtracks - very similar to the K2 but louder, a little more bass Gold standard in bad mastering!Ģ011 Deluxe - Very much overdone, boomy bass, quite congested and fatiguing.Ģ018 HDtracks - basically a louder version of the PRT, with a tad more bass.ġ998 Castle - Sounds good but has NR on the fades/some intros God knows where they went wrong with this one. PRT/Castle CLACD - flat transfer of master (sounds lovely)ġ998 Castle - awful, tinny telephone EQ. It's a bright album so this one is not pleasant.Ģ018 HDtracks - compressed but not as bad as the Deluxe, bright album sound has been dulled a little. PRT/Castle CLACD - flat transfer of masterġ998 Castle - a bit thinner than the PRT (bass shaved off) but not compressedĢ011 Deluxe - loud, compressed and bright. Has many tape noises repaired.Ģ018 HDtracks - compressed but not as bad as the Deluxe, nice EQ Here's a run down of all the releases of the same mixes:ġ998 Castle - a bit thin but not bad by any means, not compressed.Ģ011 Deluxe - loud, compressed and bright. Not great, but the EQ is far better than the Deluxe Editions
